jenniferjungha asked: What's your mom's problem with Asians and Greeks?
Just the general prejudices. Stereotypical generalizations and blaming something on someones asianness rather than the person. Like if someone’s rude to her and they’re asian she’ll say ‘an asian lady yelled at your sister in ikea’ (actual quote) they’re way more.
And Greeks basically just because my sister married into a Greek family and my Mum doesn’t like them.
But mostly she’s just a product of being raised in a rural Australian area. She’s not going out to KKK meetings and all that but she’s silently judging everyone.
Anonymous asked: I think John Green was poking fun at the fact that so many people are shocked at how long ago certain years are. Don't you feel like the 90s just happened? It's strange. That's all he was saying. Not that people from 1998 are supposed to be 15 year olds without potty training.
He was making a condescending comment about the age group he’s spent his entire career writing about. Just about every character in his novels were born in the 90’s. You’d think he’d have had some time to get over the shock.

Anonymous asked: If you want to determine whether or not you're hollaback girl, you'll have to answer the ultimate question all hollaback girls are confronted by throughout their lifetime. Is the shit bananas? Take your time with this.
B-a-n-a-n-a-anas or regular bananas?
Anonymous asked: Is that gif you? Because if so, then... speaking as a 23 year old American female, you are freaking adorable.
It is but it’s from about 2 years ago and I was 17 at the time, you creep.
Anonymous asked: what's your ethnicity?
I’m white. Like really pale white. My Dad’s brown so that’s a weird thing but I’d say I’m a white australian from a very multi cultural family.
Anonymous asked: I'm a little confused about what your point is. Are you suggesting color blindness? I'm just having a hard time following this conversation.
No, I’m colour blind and it has nothing to do with race. (just a little joke)
I’m simply stating that the act of some people on tumblr saying ‘white people do this and that and say this and that’ is harmful, not to white people, but to the whole idea that people should not be grouped and classed by their race. I’m not saying that them doing that is racist at all, I’m saying that it doesn’t help your cause when you do the thing that you don’t want people to do to you i.e. blame all black people for the acts of a few.
Anonymous asked: dude that's whack. the responsibility is on white people to know and acknowledge racism, not on people of color to go around "educating" everyone they meet. If you were of a marginalized race would you think it fair that people expected you to stay calm and pleasant while educating racists every day of your life?
I’m not saying it’s up to people of colour to educate people. It’s up to everyone to educate people. You should get mad when racists are being idiots, but a lot of people aren’t saying ‘fucking racists’ they’re saying ‘white people’ which is the same as me saying ‘black people’ when a black person does something.
I am by no means a marginalized race, that’s true, but most of my family are. My Dad is brown, my cousins are aboriginal, filipino and Samoan and if anyone were to directly insult them due to their race, I wouldn’t be calm about it.
You need to think of racism as something that is broken rather then something that exists naturally. You can get pissed that it’s broken but you need to try and fix it too. The people of the civil rights movement didn’t sit around and blame people they did something and to continue on with that progress everyone needs to keep doing things.
Anonymous asked: What are you doing for new years?
Well, I’ve been saving a fancy beer I got for christmas so I’ll drink that while rewatching Psych and messing around with 3D things. I lead an exciting life.
dveoit asked: The point of that virginity post is that the social implications of a woman who has had sex is more negative than a man who has had sex. The lack of virgin status can translate into not only shame, but potentially abuse and death as they may be considered "worthless". However, the status of virginity can also be negative as women can be considered "frigid"/"prude" if they don't have sex with a man who feels he has "earned" sex. There's a lot more but I'll going to stop here for now.
I understand your point but the issue shouldn’t be addressed as the concept of virginity is negative against women, it should be addressed as if it’s negative to begin with. Young men are also met with negativity if they are a virgin, by their peers and older men who should be role models.
What I meant by that post was that the concept of virginity wasn’t made by men in order oppress women, it was made by societies in order to oppress it’s members.
