The Age: After 32 years of speculation, it's finally official: a dingo took Azaria

And here come the wave of headlines “A dingo ate the baby”

I hate jokes about this case, even jovial references to it.

I find it fucking disgusting.

A baby was killed, and a shitload of people - especially Americans, make references to Lindy Chamberlain’s statement that a dingo ate her baby.

A woman who was accused and convicted of killing her child for no other reason than the fact that she grieved wrong.

A miscarriage of justice that is partly the legal system’s fault and partly the media’s fault.

And a bunch of people think the whole ordeal is comical.

A baby died an horrific death, but it’s okay because here’s a headline that can remind you of that joke you laughed at that one time.

What people fail to realise is that dingoes being dangerous to humans has never been an isolated incident. They’re wild dogs that aren’t domesticated and it’s not a secret that Australia isn’t really safe and free of dangers. To put it in perspective for non-Australians, when you see a bear, wolf, lion or whatever other predator, you get the fuck out of there. It’s no different. Even the dingoes at Australia Zoo that they’ve ‘-trained’ since birth can flip the fuck out.

The point is, people don’t mock a parent for decades for being destraught because their child was hit by a car or kipnapped.
