The Lord of the Rings & other related books, by J.R.R. Tolkien

1. The Hobbit, or There and Back Again (pdf)

Bilbo Baggins, a respectable, well-to-do hobbit, lives comfortably in his hobbit-hole until the day the wandering wizard Gandalf chooses him to take part in an adventure from which he may never return.

2. The Fellowship of the Ring (pdf)

In the sleepy village in the Shire, a young hobbit is entrusted with an immense task. He must make a perilous journey across Middle-earth to the Cracks of Doom, there to destroy the Ruling Ring of Power - the only thing that prevents the Dark Lord Sauron’s evil dominion.

3. The Two Towers (pdf)

The company of the Ring is sundered. Frodo and Sam continue their journey alone down the great River Anduin - alone, that is, save for the mysterious creeping figure that follows wherever they go.

4. The Return of the King (pdf)

The armies of the Dark Lord are massing as his evil shadow spreads evn wider. Men, Dwarves, Elves and Ents unite forces to do battle agaisnt the Dark. Meanwhile, Frodo and Sam struggle further into Mordor in their heroic quest to destroy the One Ring.

A volume of songs, rhymes, and poems from “The Red Book.” They tell of Tom’s encounters with Goldberry, with Old Man Willow, who tries to trap Tom inside his trunk, with the Badger-folk, and with the ghostly Barrow-wight, as well as with a princess, trolls, dwarves, and legendary beasts.

7. The Silmarillion (pdf)

Precursor to The Lord of the Rings. The Silmarilli were three perfect jewels, fashioned by Feanor, most gifted of the Elves. When the first Dark Lord, Morgoth, stole the jewels for his own ends, Feanor and his kindred took up arms and waged a long and terrible war to recover them. This is the story of their rebellion against the gods and the history of the heroic First Age of Middle-earth.

8. Unfinished Tales of Numenor and Middle-earth (2 docs via rar)

A collection of narratives ranging in time from the Elder Days of Middle-earth to the end of the War of the Ring, and ruther relates events told in The Silmarillion  and The Lord of the Rings. The book concentrates on the lands of Middle-earth and comprises Gandalf’s lively account of how he came to send the Dwarves to the celebrated party at Bag-End, the story of the emergence of the sea-god Ulmo before the eyes of Tuor on the coast of Beleriand, and an exact description of the military organization of the Riders of Rohan and the journey of the Black Riders during the hunt for the Ring.Unfinished Tales also contains the only surviving story about the long ages of Numenor before its downfall, and all that is known about the Five Wizards sent to Middle-earth as emissaries of the Valar, about the Seeing Stone known as the Palantiri, and about the legend of Amroth.

J.R.R. Tolkien is famous the world over for his unique literary creation, exemplified in The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and The Silmarillion. What is less well known, however, is that he also produced a vast amount of further material that greatly expands upon the mythology and numerous stories of Middle-earth, and which gives added life to the thousand-year war between the Elves and the evil spirit Morgoth, and his terrifying lieutenant, Sauron. It was to this enormous task of literary construction that Tolkien’s youngest son and literary heir, Christopher applied himself to produce the monumental and endlessly fascinating series of twelve books, The History of Middle-earth.
